Working with other design firms to design and fabricate their window treatments and upholstery has been one of the most significant and enjoyable changes we made to our business in the last year. Through the process of working with other designers we get to experience their design process, access new inspiration, and explore new vendors and products more readily than we would find organically.

On a recent project in the Presidio with Geremia Design, we were introduced to Melin Tregwynt, A small woolen mill in the south of Wales. Melin has been run by the same family for three generations and produces beautiful wool fabrics and accessories for the home. Even though it slowed down our fabrication schedule because “we ran out of that color from our local dyer”, it was such a unique experience to work with such a small fabric company on this project. Plus the final colorway was perfect.

We ended up sewing a large banquette seat cushion and a freestanding back cushion for the media room on the Fifth Avenue project in San Francisco and the results were outstanding. Personally, this is one of my favorite items we have ever created. This whole project with Geremia was an experiment in creating unique vignettes and spaces at all came together as a perfectly cohesive whole. I can’t wait to share the final project photos when we get them.
