Sombra y Sol Lounge Chair - First Newsletter Celebration Sale
Where soul, sun, and shadow are woven together in handcrafted comfort.
Bring the artistry of Jalisco into your home with the Sombra y Sol Lounge Chair, created in collaboration with Alma and her talented team at a family-run taller just outside Guadalajara. The name Sombra y Sol ("Shadow and Sun") reflects both the woven play of light and shade across its seat and back, and the relaxed lifestyle it was designed for — terraces, patios, and serene coastal escapes.
This lounge chair has already become part of Forrest Glover Design's growing story of connecting clients with authentic Mexican craftsmanship. For a client in Bucerías, we crafted two Sombra y Sol Lounges in solid teak — chosen for their ability to withstand coastal living. That same project also took us to Veracruz, where we sourced additional outdoor furniture directly from a maker the client had found online. Rather than order blindly, we visited the taller in person — building trust and ensuring quality firsthand.
Now, the design is expanding again with a project in Zipolite, where we'll be crafting more Sombra y Sol Lounges and longer benches for a beachfront retreat. Each project connects us deeper into Mexico's design landscape, weaving together relationships with artisans from Jalisco to Veracruz to Oaxaca's coast.
To celebrate our first newsletter, the Sombra y Sol Lounge Chair is on sale: 12,600 MXN (~$681 USD) — 10% off regular 14,000 MXN (~$757 USD) — for six weeks."
This version is crafted in Rosa Morada, Parota or Mexican teak.
Rosa Morada is a softer blonde-gray wood with a contemporary feel and subtle grain that brings modern elegance to interiors and covered terraces. Each frame is paired with a handwoven seat and back, available in multiple colors and evolving patterns. The result: a sculptural chair that carries not just comfort, but a story of connection.
Please note: Rosa Morada is recommended for interiors or covered outdoor spaces where it can be protected from direct weather exposure. Our Mexican teak version is suitable for exterior use and exposure to the elements.
Lo Hecho a Mano está chingón.
